The camera

Out of the box Umber is a clean, everyday camera: point, tap the shutter, done. No Film is the default, so what you see is your photo with no look on it.
The bar along the bottom of the viewfinder holds the manual controls: exposure, shutter, ISO, white balance, focus and lens. Tap one to set it by hand; set it back to auto whenever you like.
The aids help you judge a shot before you take it: focus peaking, zebras for highlights about to clip, a live histogram, a loupe, a level and composition guides.
Choose the frame you will print: 4:3, 3:2, square, 4:5, 16:9 or the wide XPan panorama.

Natural shoots the sensor's RAW and develops it gently. There is no AI in it and no invented detail, and highlights are kept in HDR.
On iPhones with ProRAW, Umber can shoot it at up to 48 MP.
RAW files from your own camera, from Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm and more, open in the editor like any other photo.

Eleven films sit in the strip under the viewfinder, and you see the look live before you shoot.
Your original is always kept. Change the film or take it off in the editor later.

Light, colour, curves, HSL, colour grading, grain and borders, plus masks for the subject, the sky, depth and more, each with its own adjustments.
Every edit can be undone, and the original is never lost.
The editor works on your camera roll too, not only on photos Umber took. Edits to a photo in your library are saved back there, and can be reverted in the Photos app.
Batch editing applies one edit to many photos at once.

Add Umber's camera to your Lock Screen (touch and hold the Lock Screen, then Customize) to open it without unlocking.
On iPhones with Camera Control, you can set it to open Umber in the Settings app, and press it to take a photo.

Your first 30 photos have every Pro feature. A photo taken or an edit saved counts as one.
After that, the everyday camera, three films and basic editing (light, colour, crop and straighten) stay free for good, with no watermark. Photos from the trial keep their edits.
Umber Pro is one payment of $19.99: the pro controls and aids, Natural, ProRAW and camera RAW import, all eleven films and the full editor. No subscription. It works with Family Sharing.
On a new iPhone, tap Restore Purchase in Settings.
