Sheaf Privacy Policy

Effective October 2026

Sheaf is a PDF toolkit for the Mac from Papermint Studio. There are no Papermint servers, no accounts, no analytics and no ads. Your files are read and saved on your Mac, and they never leave it.

In short

Sheaf collects nothing: every tool runs on your Mac, your files are never uploaded, and we never see them.

What we collect2

  • Nothing. Sheaf has no accounts, analytics, advertising, tracking or third-party code. We receive no personal data, no usage statistics and no identifiers. Its App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.
  • Sheaf has no crash reporting of its own. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in macOS settings, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports under Apple's own terms.

Your files4

  • Sheaf is sandboxed by macOS. It can only reach the files you add: by dropping them on its window, choosing them in the open panel, or sending them from Finder.
  • Every tool works on your Mac: compressing, merging, splitting, converting, signing, redacting, editing, comparing and repairing. Your files are never uploaded.
  • Text in scanned pages is recognised with Apple's Vision framework, on your Mac.
  • Sheaf saves every result as a new file where you choose. It never changes the file you started with.

What Sheaf keeps on your Mac4

  • Signatures and initials you save are kept in Sheaf's own storage on your Mac, so you can use them again. Delete one in the Sign tool at any time.
  • Recent files. Sheaf remembers the last files you used so you can put them back on the desk. Remove one with Remove from Recent.
  • Passwords you type to open a locked file are kept in memory only, and forgotten when Sheaf quits.
  • None of this is synced or sent anywhere. Deleting Sheaf and its folder in ~/Library/Containers removes all of it.

Network use3

  • Sheaf never sends your files or anything about you over the internet. It goes online in two cases only.
  • Web Page to PDF. When you type a web address, Sheaf loads that page from its website, as a browser would, so it can save it. That website sees the request under its own policy.
  • Purchases. StoreKit contacts the App Store to check the free trial and your purchase, and when you start the trial, buy or restore.

Purchases2

  • Sheaf is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple Account or payment details, and Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.
  • The 3-day free trial is a free App Store purchase. Apple records when you started it on your Apple Account. We never see it.

Children1

  • Sheaf collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy1

  • If Sheaf ever handles data differently, we will update this page and its effective date before that version of the app is released.
