Set your primary language and Apple's on-device engine transcribes it. If you record in a different language, choose that language before recording. You can also have your Notes written in another language.
The clean Notes and titles are written by Apple Intelligence on your device. On an iPhone or iPad that supports it, turn it on in Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri; the model downloads once. Without it, Whittle still records, transcribes, and searches - you just won't get the AI-written notes.

If you use iCloud, your note text syncs through your own private iCloud, so a new device (or a reinstall) restores your titles, transcripts, and Notes automatically. Audio isn't synced - it stays on the device that recorded it, and you can have it auto-cleared after a set time in Settings → Storage.
My notes have no title or clean text. That's Apple Intelligence - make sure it's turned on and finished downloading, then open the note and tap Regenerate.
Transcription looks wrong / wrong language. Apple's engine needs the right language selected. Set your language before recording.
Does my voice leave my phone? Never. Audio and text stay on-device; only note text syncs, and only through your own iCloud. See the privacy policy.
