Sketchy Privacy Policy

Effective October 6, 2026

Sketchy has no accounts, no sign-in, no ads and no tracking. To draw a new page it has to send your description or the photo you picked to a server, so this page says exactly what goes where, and what never leaves your device.

This policy covers the Sketchy app for iPhone and iPad, made by Papermint Studio.

In short

Sketchy sends only what it needs to draw a page (your description or the one photo you pick) plus an anonymous ID for your sparks; nothing is tied to your name, and your pages live on your device and in your own iCloud.

Page descriptions5

When you tap Create Page, the words you typed (up to 300 characters) and the quality you chose go to our server. Our server adds coloring-book instructions and passes the text to Replicate, an AI service that runs the drawing model: Recraft 20B for Standard and Recraft V3 for Premium.
Replicate may run a model through the company that made it, so your description may also reach Recraft.
Our server doesn't save your description. Replicate sends back a link to the finished page, and the app downloads the page from Replicate.
Replicate, and Recraft where it's involved, keep the description and the drawn page under their own policies, not ours. We don't delete those copies ourselves.
Your description goes to Replicate without your anonymous ID. Please don't type names, addresses or other personal details. A page never needs them.

Photos you turn into pages5

A photo leaves your device only when you tap Create Page on the photo you picked. The app first shrinks it to at most 1280 pixels on its longest side and redraws it as a new JPEG, so location and camera details from the original file are not sent.
Our server uploads the photo to Replicate, where FLUX.1 Kontext Pro, a model made by Black Forest Labs, redraws it as line art. Our server doesn't keep the photo.
The uploaded photo and the drawn page stay with Replicate, and Black Forest Labs where it's involved, under their own policies. We don't delete those copies ourselves.
Sketchy never saves your original photo. Only the finished line art goes into My Pages. While the app is open it holds the photo in memory so Try again and redraw can reuse it.
You pick photos in Apple's own photo picker, so Sketchy only ever sees the one picture you choose and never has access to your photo library. If the photo shows people, their picture is sent too.

Sparks and your anonymous ID4

Sketchy makes a random ID on your device to keep your sparks and your Sketchy Premium unlock. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID, and we don't know who you are.
The ID is stored in your iCloud key-value storage so the same balance shows up on all your devices. Without iCloud it stays on this device only.
The app sends the ID to our server when it makes a page, checks your sparks, loads prices or opens a page from Explore or Books. Our server passes it to RevenueCat, our purchase platform, to check or change your sparks or confirm your unlock.
RevenueCat's code in the app also sends RevenueCat the ID, your App Store purchase records and basic technical details such as device model, iOS version and app version. RevenueCat's own privacy policy covers that data.

Everything else the app loads4

Surprise Me asks our server for an idea. The request carries nothing you typed and no ID, and our server asks a Meta Llama 3 model on Replicate for a kid-friendly idea.
Explore and Books load the page list and previews from our server without your ID. Opening a page to color or print includes your anonymous ID so our server can check Sketchy Premium for premium pages.
Our server runs on Cloudflare and has no database. It keeps no record of your pages. When something fails it may write a short error note, which can include your anonymous ID, so we can fix it.
As with any internet service, Cloudflare and Replicate see your device's network address when the app talks to them. We don't use it to identify you.

Your pages and iCloud4

Your pages, your colorings (the finished picture and the strokes, stickers and fills behind it), what you typed for each page, and your favorites are stored on your device. Hearts on Explore and book pages are kept in your iCloud key-value storage so they appear on your other devices.
If you use iCloud, they're also kept in Sketchy's private iCloud database in your own Apple account, so they appear on your other devices. Only you can see it. We keep no copy of your pages on any server of ours.
Deleting a page in Sketchy removes it from iCloud too. Without iCloud, everything stays on this device and is removed if you delete the app.
Replay videos and shared pictures are made on the spot and only go where you choose to send them.

Permissions2

Sketchy never asks for the camera, microphone, location or contacts, and it never reads your photo library.
The first time you tap Save, iOS asks whether Sketchy may add photos. That permission only lets it save a page into Photos; it can't see anything already there. Printing uses AirPrint and sharing uses the iOS share sheet, and both happen only when you tap them. Sketchy may show Apple's standard prompt to rate the app.

Purchases2

Spark packs and Sketchy Premium are paid for through Apple. We never see your payment details.
RevenueCat records each purchase against your anonymous ID so your sparks and unlock reach your account.

What we don't do3

No ads, no analytics and no tracking across apps or websites. Settings such as sounds, haptics and paper size stay on your device.
No selling or sharing of data with advertisers or data brokers.
We use your descriptions and photos only to draw the page you asked for, and we don't train AI on them. How Replicate and the model makers handle data is set by their own terms.

Children4

Sketchy is made for everyone, and children use it. It never asks for a name, age, email or account, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
What a child types, and any photo they pick, is sent to our server and Replicate to draw the page, as described above. Please help younger children with photos, especially photos of people, and remind them not to type names or addresses.
Purchases go through Apple's payment flow, which families can control with Screen Time and Ask to Buy. Share with a friend and Rate Sketchy in Settings open the iOS share sheet and the App Store.
