Whittle Privacy Policy

Effective July 2026

Whittle is built so that we couldn't see your recordings even if we wanted to. There are no Papermint servers, no accounts, and no analytics. Everything happens on your device.

What we collect

Nothing. Whittle collects no personal data, no analytics, no crash reports, no identifiers, and no usage statistics - from anyone, ever.

Your recordings & notes

  • Audio is recorded and stored locally on your device. It is never uploaded to us or anyone else.
  • Transcription runs on-device using Apple's Speech framework - audio is never sent to a server.
  • Titles and the tidy “Notes” rewrite are generated on-device by Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models). Your words never leave the phone.
  • Search runs entirely on-device over text stored locally; nothing is sent anywhere to index or query it.

iCloud sync

If you use iCloud, your note text (titles, transcripts, and the cleaned notes) syncs through your own private, end-to-end-encrypted iCloud database. It is governed by Apple's iCloud privacy terms - Papermint has no access to it. Audio files are not synced; they stay on the device that recorded them, and you can have them auto-cleared after a set time in Settings.

Microphone

Whittle uses the microphone only while you are actively recording a note, with permission you grant in iOS. It does not listen in the background.

Purchases

Whittle Pro is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's privacy policy governs that transaction.

Children

Whittle collects no data from anyone, including children.
